Contestant Local Finalist Forms (Download Forms 101, 105, 106, and 204) Eligibility Requirements: To be eligible, a contestant must ... • Be female • Be 17-24 years of age • Be a citizen of the Unites States • Live, work or attend school in Tulare County for at least the past six months • Be single, never have been pregnant or married, with no dependents • Be of good, moral standing *Required Fundraising *There is no entry fee. However, Finalists for Miss Tulare County are requested to raise a minimum sponsorship fee of $350, the first $100 of which will go towards the required Children’s Miracle Network contribution. For that local sponsorship fee, the sponsor will receive a free full-page ad in our program book. A local sponsorship can come from a single business or organization, multiple businesses who split up the ad page, or groups of family and friends. The funds we raise from sponsorships will go toward the local scholarships we award, as well as provide funds to prepare our titleholders. Finalists will solicit sponsorships and each contestant competes for scholarship dollars by participating in five segments of competition. The Judging System: Judging in each segment is based on the Olympic scoring system. Each contestant receives a score from a low of 1 to a high of 10, with the highest and lowest scores being discarded. Scores from all segments are then accumulated for each contestant, and the highest total score determines the titleholder. On the local level, the various segments account for the following percentages of a contestant's total score: (1) Presentation and Community Service in Interview = 25% (2) Artistic Expression in Talent (90 seconds) = 35% (3) Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimwear = 15% (4) Presence and Poise in Evening Wear = 20% (5) On Stage Question = 5% If you would like to receive information about next year's program and how YOU could qualify to earn scholarship dollars, please contact June Amaral – Executive Director Phone (559) 303-9687 or e-mail junann_amaral@yahoo.com. What to expect from auditions... ★ Auditions begin at 9:30 am sharp. ★ We will be choosing 10 contestants for this years pageant. ★ You will need to bring a current photo with you to the auditions. ★ You will be judged on talent and interview only. ★ Your talent should be something you are comfortable with, don’t try and learn something new. (If music is necessary for your talent be sure to bring it with you) ★ A costume is not required for audition talent performances. (90 seconds) (However, you should be dressed appropriately). ★ Interviews will be kept to a maximum of 5 minutes. ★ You should be dressed appropriately for interview as well. ★ Auditions are private for committee members and judges only. ★ Audition Applications must be completed and turned in no later than Dec. 01, 2010 We will notify the 10 contestants selected to compete for Miss Tulare County 2011 between 6:00 & 7:00pm the day of Auditions. A brunch will be hosted by June Amaral at her home the following Sunday at noon. You will have brunch, receive your information packets for the pageant, meet your director and committee. This is for contestants only! The Miss Tulare County Pageant is always looking for volunteers to help in any capacity. The level of commitment is determined by the individual volunteer.
